If you want to learn more about the Slow Food Movement visit the International Website and see how it all began and why. Since its conception it has grown and n0w has with more than one million supporters across 160+ countries.
In Australia it is represented in 4 states and the Northern Territory.
Slow Food Noosa first began in Pomona in 2003 with five members, in 2007 Matt Golinski was the President and initiated the Slow Food Noosa School Garden Project. It has grown significantly since then but is still run by a committee of dedicated volunteers who give their time freely to make a positive difference in their community.
In 2017, the group launched Australia’s first ‘Snail of Approval’ program to recognise local leaders of the global Slow Food philosophy of ‘good, clean and fair’ food.

“BIG NIGHT” FILM & FOOD DINNER
We’re thrilled to partner with Noosa Alive! for another unforgettable Film with Food experience.
The much-loved American comedy-drama Big Night tells the story of two Italian brothers trying to save their struggling restaurant while staying true to authentic food traditions. Funny, heartfelt and deeply food-focused, it’s the perfect film for Slow Food lovers.
The evening features:
- A screening of Big Night on the big screen
- A three-course dinner inspired by the film
- Menus created collaboratively by celebrated local chefs Matt Golinski, Josh Smallwood and Glen Barratt
- A welcome glass of sparkling wine
- Open cash bar
- Shared tables and convivial dining
Free return bus transport from Noosa Junction to Cooroy is also available for ticket holders.

Slow Food Noosa’s Snail Kids program will be at the Noosa Community Gardens in Noosaville on Monday, 6 July, from 9am.
Holy guacamole! Forget the screen time! This school holidays, turn your kids into little food explorers on a journey to discover where our meals really come from ❤️🥑🌳
Our Easter program at the community garden was such a hit with all the kids – we’ve decided to do it again – this time featuring the versatile and nutritious humble avocado!
“The aim is to get the families and the children in the garden and make that really strong connection about where our food is coming from,’’ Snail Kids co-ordinator Di Seels said.
“It works brilliantly in that beautiful outdoor area at the community garden. It is so delightful – blueberries for the soul.’’
The popularity of the last session had prompted Slow Food Kids to run another! The response from the gardens and community – is that they would like to continue at every school holidays.
“From Tree to Guacamole” is the name of the July program, which has Ana Vaia Garcia as co-ordinator.
Discover the journey of the avocado with Slow Food Noosa Snail of Approval certified organic farmer John Tidy.
John and wife Julia have been farming organically at Amamoor for more than 20 years. They will bring a wealth of experience, inspiration and enthusiasm to the morning.
As well as the chance to explore the Noosa Community Garden there will be the opportunity to make guacamole with John and the Snail Kids team.
“We want this to be about the kids – and the community garden is right there,’’ Di Seels said.
The Slow Food Snail Kids program is an award-winning initiative by Slow Food Noosa (head to the projects page of the Slow Food Noosa website to learn more!) that connects primary school children with ethical farmers and producers.

Winter Solstice Festival June 2025
Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June 2025. The free community event begins at 8am daily and promises two days of nature, light, food, music and family fun. Festival highlights include the Australian Plants Winter Festival showcasing bushfoods and native plants, a forest fairy trail with prizes for every child, and the Perfect Pups Bandana Parade at 10am daily.
